of the needs of both our sponsors and

and sponsors - www.w-w-i.com
onEdition are pleased to announce that
the new Online Press Office version
of World Wide Images has gone live
and is now able to host video, still
images, audio files and press releases.
Many of you will have known World Wide
Images (W-W-I) in its previous incarnation
as a hugely successful, fully brand-able
image library system. The new site
has been developed as one of the most
advanced Online Press Office (OPO)
facilities available and ensures that
your multi-media gets in front of your
target audience.
Having an OPO provides you with an easily
usable database of your video, still
images, audio files and press releases – multi-media
that can be searched for and downloaded
at the touch of a button by the media.
It is the most cost effective way of
having a totally personalised OPO,
branded with your or your client’s
corporate livery, so your brand is
easily recognised and your brand identity
is reinforced every time the media
visit your OPO. It will act as a seamless
extension of your own company/event
website, but have the benefit of sitting
on top of a cutting-edge database that
has a huge international media audience
who already use the site on a daily
basis.
Media will access your OPO via a link
from your own site or through the main
directory on the front page of W-W-I.
We will promote your OPO to our registered
users every time new content is uploaded,
ensuring that your message is reaching
your target audience.
Our registered users include thousands
of media in over 90 countries around
the globe, including all of the major
news and features titles and a vast
range of specialist titles. W-W-I has
provided media facilities for many
major international events including
the Flora London Marathon, London and
Southampton Boat Shows, British International
Motor Show, British Scooter and Motorcycle
Show, Skandia Cowes Week, the VELUX
5 Oceans and Crufts.
The site was developed to meet the changing
needs of media and to provide them
with 360º content, as the division
between mediums blur. The World Wide
Images site will generate greater exposure
and media returns for PR agencies,
event organisers and sponsors.

December 2008: It has been
a very busy six weeks for the onEdition
team, with a broad range of commissions
across a wide sector of clients.
The beginning of November saw us shooting
the start of the Vendee Globe in
Les Sables d'Olonne, for Dee Caffari's
Aviva campaign. With over 300,000 people
lining the docks - we saw Dee start what
is known as the Everest of yachting and
her bid to become the first woman to
have sailed both directions around the
world, solo and non-stop. We wish her
well on this amazing race.
We have been very busy with both consumer

including Nintendo, Hertz, Flora and
Panasonic on the consumer side and LDC
and Collins Stewart on the corporate
side, to name just a few.
We were the official photographers for
the Carole Nash International Motorcycle & Scooter
Show again at the NEC and worked with
the show organisers to leverage the event.

of the yacht racing industry in these
difficult times.
It has been another great year and we
would like to take this opportunity to

their support in 2008 and to wish you

October 2008: September was
an incredibly busy month with two major
events in the shape of the PSP Southampton
Boat Show and the Skandia Sail
for Gold Regatta in Weymouth taking the
team out of London for a couple of
weeks. We have also been busy with corporate
work for a range of our city
clients as well including Artemis, PWC
and Palomon.
We have been very busy testing the new
Online Press Office: World Wide
Images which is very impressive and we
are all champing at the bit to get it
out to market.
October has been very busy with image
distribution for the Volvo Ocean Race
which started on October 11th in Alicante,
Spain. onEdition are providing
all of the image distribution around
the world, for this fantastic event and
are enjoying working alongside the VOR
media team to ensure that this event
is witnessed by the worlds media.
November will be a very busy month with
huge numbers of meetings with old
and potential clients alike and we are
again looking forward to working on
the Carole Nash International Motorcycle
and Scooter Show at the NEC in
Birmingham, where we will be providing
photography, image distribution and
selling-in service as well as a branded
online image library on World Wide
Images again. We are looking forward
to leveraging this event for the new
title sponsors, insurance company Carole
Nash and the event organisers
alike.
4th September
2008: Another very busy summer
has passed in a blur of activity with
July being incredibly busy with the
Clipper Race ending in Liverpool after
a hugely successful 10 months. During
that period, our online distribution
service, World Wide Images supplied
the official online image library for
Race and saw over 10,000 images downloaded
by media from 48 countries.
In mid-July we were in Denmark for the
Volvo Youth Worlds, followed by the British
International Motor Show at ExCeL in
London. It was a huge success and we
saw publications around the world, as
many major manufacturers used the show
to announce new models. World Wide Images
was again chosen as the official image
library for the event and we saw over
5,000 images downloaded by media all
around the world in 49 countries.
We went straight from London to the
south coast, to shoot Skandia Cowes Week,
which after 14 fantastic years, Skandia’s
sponsorship of the event came to an end.
With the Olympics starting half-way through
the event, we were worried that this
year we might have seen a drop in media
coverage, but are worries were unfounded
as we again achieved huge levels of coverage
for Skandia in their final year of title
sponsorship.
During Cowes Week, we also had a team
working on the iShares Cup that was taking
place there. It produced stunning images
as the 40 foot racing machines provided
spectacular imagery for us, securing
publications around the world. This event
is what sailing is about, high octane,
close racing and easily accessible to
the crowds watching on the shore – absolutely
superb.
Our team have also been very busy with
consumer and corporate PR photography
during the summer, working for many of
our clients on a wide-ranging variety
of briefs from product launches to corporate
business portraits.
The other area we have been very busy
with behind the scenes is the development
of World Wide Images, which will be launched
in the coming weeks as the most cutting
edge online media facilty available today……Watch
this space!
12th
June 2008: Its been
a busy few weeks for the agency with
a number of projects underway. May
saw a team of onEdition photographers
working again on the Tesco Under
13 Cup, a grass roots (no pun intended!)
campaign promoting youth football.
This year saw the exciting addition of
girls teams which added a new dimension
to the very successful CSR campaign delivered
into regional media up and down the country
for Tesco.
onEdition were the official photographers
on The Artemis Challenge,
organised by OC Events, the 13th edition
of The Transat, now known as The
Artemis Transat started on the 11th May,
2008 from Sutton Harbour, Plymouth
(UK), and finish in Boston, USA. Created
in 1960 by Sir Francis Chichester
and Blondie Hasler, and often known until
2004 as the OSTAR, the oldest solo
race in history has created many legends
over the last four decades. We were
there to capture all of the drama of
the start and finish and generated
strong global coverage for the title
sponsors Artemis.
We also worked on the fantastic Moonwalk
for the event organisers Walk the
Walk and even after all these years covering
it, we cannot help to be moved
by this amazing event.
May saw the launch of a new event: The
Real Man Cycle race, which will be
held on Sunday 14th September 2008. 2000
cyclists in teams of 4 will take to
the streets of London to raise awareness
of prostate cancer. The 34 km route
will start and finish at The Excel Centre,
London.
It has also been a busy few weeks shooting
corporate images, working for a
number of high profile clients, new and
old and providing them with
interesting corporate portraits.
The rest of the season is looking very
busy, with some major events coming
up including the finish of the Clipper
Race, The Volvo Youth Worlds, The
British International Motor Show, Skandia
Cowes Week, the UK round of the
iShares Cup and many other interesting
corporate and consumer projects
lining up.
We are all very excited about the new
developments on our online image
library World Wide Images which will
now become a full online media centre,
providing a one-stop shop for events
and companies, where stills, video,
audio and press releases will all be
able to be searched for and downloaded.
The site will be totally brand-able and
look like the extension of the
official event web site and will provide
a whole host of new features which
will make it the industry leader in its
field. What this space for the
launch of the new site in the next few
weeks..............

April 2008: It has
been a busy few weeks for onEdition
with a big team out working hard
to leverage Flora's sponsorship of
the London Marathon. The race is
always a delight to capture, with
all of the agony and ecstasy of the
runners a wonderful source of images.
The Maasai warriors were magnificent
in their traditional kit and even
carried their spears and shields
(with running numbers on!) and it
was a fantastic site to see 'Blind
Dave' complete his seven marathons
in seven days -an amazing achievement.
This month sees the team in Plymouth
for the start of The Artemis Transat
which we are the official photographers
for. The prestigious single-handed
yacht race, steeped in history, starts
from Sutton Harbour, Plymouth, UK on
the 11th May and finishes after a non-stop
dash across the North Atlantic in
Boston, USA.

a massive boost for the sport of sailing
and its sponsorship profile.
onEdition
Photography Director, Matthew Dickens
said "We are very proud to
have been involved
in the huge media success of this event.
Working strategically with the VELUX
5 Oceans media team, we were able to
place a vast range of imagery into titles
around the globe, bringing the race to
an unprecedented audience.
"The event also attracted a huge
number of global media titles to our
image library, World Wide Images- http://www.w-w-i.com/.
During the race we had in excess of 26,000
images downloaded by media in over 80
countries around the world.
"onEdition Photography were also
recognised for their photography of this
event, winning both the Sven Simon Preis
2007: Sports photograph of the year (DIE
WELT/WELT am SONNTAG, Germany) and the
British Press Photographers Association:
Sports Feature of the year 2007, during
last year.”
1st January
2008: It has been a very busy
year with lots of changes at onEdition.
Susie Roberts joined us to look after
the office and post production and
we said goodbye to Tim Stonton who
spent three years looking after World
Wide Images and all of our distribution
-his role as Operations Manager was
taken over by Martin Silnevs. Another
change was in the form of partner Anthony
Upton, who has moved on to pursue new
directions, having resigned as a director
in the Autumn. The good news is that
Anthony will still continue to work
with onEdition, as a freelance photographer
which is great.
It has been a very successful year for
the company and we have continued to
work on major events as the official
photographers and our regional photographer
service, with over 50 photographers around
the country has gone from strength to
strength working on many varied campaigns
for our clients.
World Wide Images, has seen a huge growth
in the number of registered media downloading
free to use editorial images around the
world and we have thousands of media
from over 100 countries actively using
the site on a daily basis. We are currently
doing some major site developments to
World Wide Images http://www.w-w-i.com/ and
will be announcing some exciting new
features in the coming months.
5th June 2007: It has
been an incredibly busy period for the
onEdition team over the last 3 months.
We now have a team of over 40 photographers
working for us and have been very busy
both internationally and around the UK
with various events.
We finished the VELUX
5 Oceans event in early May in Bilbao
and saw Sir Robin Knox-Johnston coming
back home to a tremendous welcome in
Portsmouth after his magnificent performance
in the race – a huge well done
to Sir Robin - we all have enormous admiration
for him. The VELUX 5 Oceans race has
been an incredible result in terms of
media coverage. onEdition secured fantastic
levels of international coverage for
the event via our comprehensive targeted
international distribution of images
around the world. The world’s media
from our V5O gallery on our online image
library, World Wide Images, has downloaded
over 25,000 images. So far two
major international awards for the team
have been won for the outstanding photography
shot during this event.
Our team of photographers
around the country worked on a brand
new competition, the Tesco U13's cup
- a football tournament held around the
country to increase the number of boys
playing community football. Broken up
into 4 regions; England, Scotland, Wales
and Northern Ireland - each region, following
a national final put forward a team to
the finals. The final, played at the
City of Manchester Stadium saw the English
team Harpfield FC from Stoke win the
final. We achieved fantastic regional
coverage around the country for the duration
of the event, working along with our
media partners Sportsbeat, we provided
free copy and images from the event to
all of the teams regional newspapers
- leading to huge media coverage being
generated for the event.
We were also the official
photographers again for Flora, for the
Flora London Marathon, Playtex Moonwalk
and the Tesco Race for Life. Again we
achieved very strong levels of coverage
for these amazing events - a great privilege
to work on these incredible events with
thousands of participants raising many
millions for charity.
We have also been very
busy with our wide range of PR clients,
working with a large number of diverse
consumer clients including Heineken,
Yellow Pages, Sugar Puffs, BP, Cobra
Beer, Norwich Union and many more high
profile clients.
We have a large number
of major projects coming up and the onEdition
team is looking forward to a busy summer.
11th April 2007: onEdition
Photography has picked up another prestigious
photographic award -this time at the
British Press Photographers Association
Awards, with a photograph of Bernard
Stamm's Cheminees Poujoulat, fighting
for survival in hurricane force winds
in the Bay of Biscay, the day after the
start of the VELUX 5 Oceans round the
world yacht race.
The image has already won the Sven Simon
Preis in Germany and now takes
first place in the BPPA's Sports Feature
category which was one of 12
categories, with entries from over 300
photographers from over 25 countries.
The 6,000 images were judged by a panel
of distinguished photographers,
including the double Pulitzer prize-winner
Horst Faas, and twice Chair of
World Press Photo, Roger Hutchings, the
BPPA Chairman Jeff Moore and John
Downing MBE. The jurors met in a closed
two-day session to view and discuss
every submitted entry using both slide
shows and hard copy prints.
Dan Towers who shot the image said 'It
is a great honour to win the award,
especially as it was judged by your peers
in the industry and another
fantastic recognition for the agency'

23rd March 2007: onEdition
have been selected as the official photographers
again for two more prestigious events.
They will be working on the JP Morgan
Asset Management Round the Island Race
on the 23rd of June and also on the
Volvo ISAF Youth Worlds in Canada in
July. They were appointed last year by
Into the Blue and the re-appointment
on both of these exciting events is a
reflection of the success achieved by
the onEdition team.
27th February 2007: onEdition
have again been chosen as the official
photographers for the Dinghy Sailing
Show, held annually at Alexandra Palace
in North London. The
show, held on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of
March is the premier event for dinghy
sailors and the team are again very much
looking forward to working on the event.
22nd February 2007: onEdition
Photography has won first prize in an
international photographic competition-winning
the prestigious German Sven-Simon-Preis
award.
The judges, led by the German tennis
star Boris Becker, described the shot
as 'Amazing' -'it looked more like a
painting than a photograph' commented
Christian Putsch, Picture Editor of DIE
WELT/WELT am SONNTAG the leading German
National newspapers who run the award.
The image was shot in the Bay of Biscay,
shortly after the start of the VELUX
5 Oceans, solo round the world yacht
race, which the onEdition team are the
official photographers for. Within hours
of the start the fleet were hit by a
huge storm, gusting at over 70 knots
(77mph). Photographer Dan Towers set
off in a helicopter, for what could only
be described as a roller coaster ride,
to try and catch up the the besieged
fleet. One of the resulting images was
of Swiss solo sailor Bernard Stamm and
his yacht, Cheminees Poujoulat, fighting
for survival in huge seas and wind, which
was
awarded as the winning shot of the annual
competition.
Clare MacNaughton, Communications Director
for the VELUX 5 Oceans said 'Sometimes
planning plus circumstance equals unprecedented
results, but even with the all the right
ingredients it takes an exceptional chef
to produce a Michelin star meal. Dan
Towers VELUX 5 Oceans storm image is
a Carpe Diem moment, brilliantly shot
and capturing exquisitely the essence
of our race and the endeavour of the
soloskipper. Hanging out of a single
engine helicopter, with the doors removed,
in 70 knots of breeze to get the shot
is no small undertaking either. We are
delighted that this image is getting
the recognition that it deserves'.
Dan is the first non-German photographer
ever to win the award and receives both
the accolade and a cash prize of €12,500.
Dan commented; 'It is a great honour
and very much a team award. The guys
that work with me are a close and very
dedicated team -without them this award
would not have happened and they will
all be getting a share of the prize money.
It is great to have your work recognised
in this way, especially after all the
hard work that we have put into ensuring
that the VELUX 5 Oceans reached the news
and features pages of the worlds press'.

wish all her the very best of luck and
a fast and safe passage on her amazing
trip. You can follow her progress here.

for the onEdition team with great results

fantastic event achieved coverage on
a worldwide basis and we look forward
to working with the Challenge Business

a huge number of publications during
Skandia Cowes Week and built on our successes
of last year.

launch of World Wide Images, our online
image library, which was developed for
the Global Challenge. We have used the
